This article shares an analysis of several types of rendering engines, considering aspects such as: rendering time, handling and operation of the program and hardware requirements.

The tests referred to were performed on two different computers, based on the results, the reader will be able to make comparisons of the elements of these computers with their own, since each software demands different types of hardware when viewing and rendering such as CPU or GPU.

On the Internet there are web pages dedicated to compare the performance between different hardware models, for example; the performance between Ryzen 5 3500X and Core i7 7500U processors, which correspond to the equipment used for testing.

Types of rendering

A render in architecture is a graphic representation of an architectural project. It is a 2D or 3D image, which offers a realistic approximation of what the final result of a project will be once it is executed.

The conceptual render is a sketch of the main characteristics of the project in which the idea and the general concept of the project can be appreciated, as well as its location within the environment. We could say that the conceptual render is the essence of the creative process.

They are usually presented in the form of drawings or images in 2D or 3D. They are made using manual or digital techniques and offer a representation very close to reality. They show what the final result will look like and how it will fit into the environment.

They offer a 360º view of the project that allows observing the result from a more realistic perspective. The observer can immerse himself in the environment to see the project from the inside. It is done using digital techniques that allow to recreate spaces in a hyper-realistic way.

Free architectural rendering

The term rendering is an anglicism for graphic representation, used in computer jargon to refer to the process of generating a photorealistic image, or not, from a 2D or 3D model (or what might collectively be called a scene file) by means of computer programs. In addition, the results of displaying such a model may be called a render.

When the preview image (usually a wireframe sketch) is completed, rendering is used, which adds bitmap textures or procedural textures, lights, topological mapping and position relative to other objects. The result is a complete image seen by the consumer or intended viewer.

For movie animations, several images (frames) must be rendered and stitched together in a program capable of making such an animation. Most 3D image editing programs can do this.

What is a render in marketing

Sometimes architectural renderings can be created in-house by a dedicated team or individual, or they can be outsourced to architectural visualization companies that specialize in creating eye-catching images.
